A DAY TRIP TO CO. KILKENNY

Join us on a day trip to Kilkenny! Kilkenny is a small vibrant city located approximately 90 minutes south of Dublin. At the heart and soul of medieval Ireland, Kilkenny is famed for architectural magnificence. This city has an electric atmosphere played out in its maze of narrow Norman alleyways, twisting and turning around abbeys, cathedrals and crumbling city walls and, in the centre, a beautiful 12th century castle. We plan to arrive in Kilkenny at 11.00am and commence the day with a tour of Kilkenny Castle. On conclusion of the tour, we will head for a relaxing lunch at Zuni Restaurant, one of Kilkenny’s most highly rated and popular restaurants. Once lunch is concluded, there will be some free time to explore Kilkenny before we depart back to Dublin leaving a little to time to refresh at the hotel before the planned Irish Cultural evening at The Merry Ploughboy.

The cathedral is the oldest building in Dublin, located in the heart of Medieval Dublin and was founded in 1030 by the viking Sitriuc, King of Dublin Norsemen. Discover the cathedral’s beautiful interior, a magnificent nave, a fascinating medieval crypt, and many important treasures including the 1215 Magna Carter; it’s principles informed the American Bill of Rights (1791) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).
