Dublin International Airport is approximately 12km north of Dublin City Centre. The short-haul flights are operated to and from Terminal 1 (T1), while the long-haul flights are operated from Terminal 2 (T2). Anyone flying from the U.S. will arrive into Terminal 2 (T2). When you arrive at Dublin Airport, the best ways to get to The Shelbourne Hotel are by Taxi or Aircoach (24-hour Private Bus Operator).
At Terminal 1, the taxi rank is located outside the Arrivals Hall (Level 1) building on the right-hand side as you exit.
At Terminal 2, from the Arrivals Hall, follow the signs for the taxi rank by walking straight through the glass tunnel and take the escalator on your right-hand side or the elevator on your left-hand side to the level below and look for the taxi rank sign.
Time & cost
A taxi will take about 25 minutes from the Airport to The Shelbourne Hotel and the costs should be approximately EUR 35-40. The taxi ranks are well managed by Dublin Airport staff who will be able to find you a taxi big enough for your party and your luggage(s). There may be a line but don’t be discouraged as it moves very quickly.
A majority of taxis do not take credit cards in Ireland but there is an ATM to take out cash in the T2 Arrivals Hall on your right hand side as you walk through the Arrivals door. There is also an ATM located in the T1 Arrivals Hall.
From Dublin Airport:
Terminal 2 (T2): Upon exiting the baggage reclaim area to the Arrivals Hall please follow signs for buses and coaches, go across the glass tunnel and then exit down the escalator and look for the Aircoach stop.
Time & cost
The Aircoach is a 24-hour Private Bus Operator and will take about 35 to 40 minutes from the Airport to The Shelbourne Hotel and the costs are EUR 8 for a single ticket and EUR 14 for a return ticket. Route 700 is the relevant route to The Shelbourne Hotel.
You can purchase your ticket at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 Aircoach departure stands. You may also purchase your ticket from your driver when boarding the coach or online at www.aircoach.ie.
Make sure you ask for the bus that goes to Kildare Street, Dublin City Centre as there are other Aircoach routes to different locations. Drop off is at the Kildare Street Aircoach stop, which is adjacent to The Shelbourne Hotel.
The Aircoach departure stop is located just down the road from The Shelbourne Hotel (heading towards Grafton St.) on the other side of the road (north side of St. Stephen’s Green opposite to Starbucks).
