CW5 Rylan T. Knight
Chief Warrant Officer Five Rylan T. Knight is a native of Panama City, Florida. He enlisted in the Army in 2000 and was appointed as a Signal Warrant Officer in 2007. CW5 Rylan T. Knight is currently serving as the Chief Engineer and Senior Technical Advisor to the USSOCOM CIO/J6, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. He is responsible for providing the technical
leadership to USSOCOM’s Information Technology strategies, architectures, capability requirements development, force
design, concepts analysis, and solution assessment across the
SOF enterprise and advises the execution of the Command’s Enterprise and Tactical Information Systems acquisition. programs. CW5 Knight is responsible for the planning, engineering, synchronization, and integration of USSOCOM’s global SOF Information and Data Enterprise providing support to more than 80,000 special operations personnel. He also serves as a USSOCOM technical representative to industry, academia, and other governmental organizations on. developmental and emerging communications technologies and concepts.
CW5 Knight has served in a diverse range of technical positions and has deployed globally in. support of multiple named and contingency operations. He most recently served as the Senior Technical Advisor, HQDA G-3/5/7 Strategic Operations, Pentagon. His previous assignments as a Warrant Officer also include: Chief Technical Officer, 7th Signal Command (Theater), Fort Gordon, Georgia; Fellow, Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Washington, DC; Senior Network Integration Technician, Brigade Modernization Command (BMC), Fort Bliss, Texas; Chief Technology Officer, 54th Signal Battalion, 160th Signal Brigade, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Network Operations OIC and later Group S6, Asymmetric Warfare Group, Fort Meade, Maryland; Network Engineer, 25th Signal Battalion, 160th Signal Brigade, Bagram Afghanistan; and Network Management Technician, 7th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade (TTSB), 5th Signal
Command, Mannheim, Germany. Prior to his appointment as a Warrant Officer, he served a Soldier and NCO in the Army’s 501st Signal Battalion and later the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
CW5 Knight holds a master’s degree in technology management from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in computer networks and security from the University of Maryland University College. He is also a graduate of the Warrant Officer Basic and Advanced Courses; Warrant Officer Intermediate Level and Senior Service Education; Joint Command, Control, Communications & Computer Planners Course (JC4PC); and the Army Force Management Course.
CW5 Knight’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5OLC), and Army Achievement Medal among other unit and individual awards, decorations, and badges.
